The Owens Valley Radio Observatory offers monthly tours at the Observatory and annual lecture series in Bishop.

Tours

Please note that the monthly tours will be suspended until further notice. 

Tours are given year-round at OVRO on the first Monday of every month unless it is a holiday. If the first Monday is a holiday, then the tour is on the second Monday. All tours start at 1 p.m. and last about an hour. Reservations are not required and there is no cost. 

Tours for schools and large groups can be arranged at other times by contacting Dr. Mark Hodges by email, mail or by phone. 

Tours start in front of the Mayer Control building. Look at the OVRO site map to find the Mayer Control building. Clicking the map below should allow to get driving directions to OVRO.

 Public Lecture Series

The public lecture series happens every year in autumn with one talk every month at the auditorium of the Bishop Union High School in Bishop, CA. All talks are given by professional researchers and educators in astronomy and astrophysics, and are geared towards any member of the community with an interest in the sciences. All that's required is an inquisitive mind!
